Renewable Electricity Support Scheme auctions

RESS is the State's competitive auction for renewable electricity support. A project must already hold planning permission and a grid connection to qualify, so an award is the strongest public signal that a project is real. 50 projects have been successful across 2 published auctions, for 1979.64 MW.

What these pages do not say

An auction result names a project and the company that won it. It does not say which planning application that project is, and neither do we. RESS publishes no county and no coordinate, so a project name is the only evidence available — and of 27 names in RESS 4, three (Ballinrea, Johnstown, Milltown) name places that exist in two, eight and six counties respectively. Attaching these awards to planning records would be wrong often enough to matter, so the auction record is published as its own thing.
